Federal Council of FICE-International was held in Spain

On 6-th and 7-th of November 2014 in Barcelona was held Federal Board of FICE-International immediately after the International Conference “Together Against Violence”, organized under a project funded by the Daphne Programme of the European Union.
In the wonderful Casa Macaya owned by the largest bank of Catalonia – La Caixa, for two days important issues related to policies for children worldwide has been discussed. The Federal Council was attended by representatives of 14 countries: Spain, Serbia, Austria, Bulgaria, Israel, Germany, Finland, Romania, the Netherlands, Switzerland, USA, South Africa, Kenya, and West Africa Network.
The representatives of the FICE national sections were divided into four working groups:
1. Unaccompanied minors and minors seeking protection
2. Inclusion
3. Young people leaving institutions
4. Sexual abuse in institutions for children
and made work plans for the next year.
Special attention was paid to the 33-rd Congress of FICE-Inter “Together Towards A Better World For Children, Adolescents And Families”, which will take place between 22-nd to 25-th of August 2016, in Vienna, Austria. Issues related to the partnership in the congress organization were discussed, as well as to the marketing strategy of FICE-Inter and FICE-Austria for its promotion.
Guests of the CF were representatives of the West African network, which presented problems of children in their countries and the role of the International Social Services and SOS-Children’s Villages to improve the lives of children. The regional policies and the need for coordination of activities and policies of the various countries in the region also were affected.
Two opinions were adopted, which will be presented to the public attention: 1/ Position related to working with children with illegal and deviant behavior, delivered at the end of the conference “Together Against Violence” and directed to the standards for the provision of residential services; 2/ Letter to the awarded with Nobel prize for child rights activists: Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzay.
The FICE National Section in Brazil was accepted for a full member of FICE-International.
The next Federal Council will be held in 7-9 May 2015 in Belgrade and there was no decision taken for the one in the autumn but FICE Luxembourg and FICE Romania are candidates to host the event.
FICE-Europe held its work meeting, during which the Dutch Martina Tobe, director of the Foundation “Children’s Perspectives” in Zwolle was nominated for president of FICE-Europe.
Dashenka Kraleva, President of FICE-Inter thanked the hosts FICE-Spain for the good organization and working conditions.
